Wander 004 - The Hangtown Halloween Ball (Placerville, CA)

October 26-28, 2012

As long time fans of High Sierra Music Festival we decided to give the Hangtown Halloween Ball a shot.  It's put on by Railroad Earth and it's only in its second year.  One of the primary motivations for the trailer purchase was to make the music festival experience a little cushier (read: we're getting old).

Unfortunately I forgot my camera and only got a few phone shots.

We had a great time and hope to return next Halloween!

Wander 003 - Gualala, CA

September 4-8, 2012

Gualala! In a trailer!  In spot 10!

This trip was, literally, a dream come true.  It was at Gualala in 2010 when our desire to buy a trailer began.  We bonded with another couple staying at the park.  They had a little teardrop trailer they were staying in.  Brian and I started talking about how nice it would be to have something like that to leave Hank in so we could go for bike rides etc.  Two years later we were back at our favorite redwood grove campground with our trailer.  Hurray!

The first day trip was one we've been meaning to make for years!  Annapolis winery.

The quirky owner was running the tasting room and she really made sure we had a good time.  She told us about how she and her late husband had bought the land in the sixties and now she and her son are running the operation.  The wine was decent, but the experience was awesome.  She repeatedly admonished us to "Be Real".  Plus the property was bathed in warm sunshine and beautiful views.

Our second day we spent wandering and exploring the creek bed right behind our campsite.

Can you spot the critter in the photo below?

Heading back to the campsite...

That night I goofed around with dinner by creating the Three-Cheese Plaid Burger:

Our next day trip was a hike that we'd taken back in 2009... we decided to do it a again.  Amazing experience:

On our last day we ventured up north to scout out future camp sites.  We stumbled on the Paul Dimmick Campground along Hwy 128

We drove through and scouted a few choice spots: Spot #7:

 or Spot #4:

We stopped and had DELICIOUS fish and chips in Pt Arena.  My only complaint is that they don't allow dogs on their patio so poor Hank pouted in the truck the whole time.

Then it was time to hit the road and head home so Carrie could start her new job as an RN at UCSF Medical Center.

Until next time Gualala!!!
